A Profile of the Borough 2006

Produced by the Policy and Partnerships Team, 'A Profile of the Borough 2006' is the second annual publication bringing together a wide range of data, facts and information about the Borough and its people.

Forming part of a series of publications that includes the 6-monthly Research and Information Newsletters, 'A Profile of the Borough 2006' identifies local trends, provides commentary and context for the data presented and provides signposts to further information.

This edition of the Profile includes population forecasts to 2012 at ward level, long term population projections to 2026 at Borough level, education results for 2005, houseprices up to June 2006 and the Annual Population Survey from 2005.  Also in this edition, the sections on crime, benefits and the economy have been developed and data in all sections rolled forward from the Profile 2005.  Census data from 2001 and the Indices of Deprivation 2004 continue to provide baseline data for these more recent sources.

The Profile takes into account the lastest available information to set the scene at local and national level.  Reference is made to the emerging South East Plan in relation to population and housing growth.  The Stern Review - the Economics of Climate Change, published in October 2006, sets the global context for the section on climate change and water resources.

'A Profile of the Borough 2006' may also be read in conjuntion with the Council`s Annual Monitoring Report (AMR), the annual review of various planning related activities in the Borough.  'A Profile of the Borough' supports the AMR in providing background data on population  demographics, economic and social issues and population forecasts/projections for the Borough.  The AMR, providing key data on housing, employment, land use and environmental issues to monitor the local plan and the Local Development Framework (LDF), deals comprehensively with planning and development issues that are not covered in the Profile.
