Online licensing applications
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is currently working on providing online applications that will fulfil the requirements of the European Service Directive. Many of the licences that were previously available in a paper format will be available online.
You will be able to apply online for licenses through our website, submit additional information to support your application and pay fees electronically.
What is the EU Services Directive?
The directive makes it easier for service providers, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, to offer their services to customers in other EU countries, whether establishing elsewhere in the EU or providing services remotely from the UK. To find out more about the EU Services Directive across Europe visit the EUGO Portal.
We are currently screening our processes in relation to the licensing regimes that fall within the scope of the directive and working to set up links with the Point of Single Contact (PSC). The PSC will ensure that applicants will be able to access information relating to the council's licensing activities and procedures electronically.
Guidance on making an online application via the Business Link Website
In order to submit an application online applicants will be directed to the business link website to begin the application process. A brief summary of the application process is detailed below.
Online application stages
1. Applicant logs in or registers for Government Gateway Registration.
2. Applicant downloads application form.
3. Applicant completes and saves application form.
4. Applicant uploads completed application form.
5. Applicant uploads supplementary documentation (where applicable).
6. Applicant pays fee (where applicable).
7. Applicant submits application and monitors status.
Applicants will recieve an e-mail to acknowledge receipt of the application. The target processing periods for each application within the scope of the directive are stated on the relevant pages of our website.
We strongly recommend that potential applicants take some time to view video tutorials on the online application process available on the business link website. The video tutorials provide applicants with a step by step guide to the application process as it will appear on your computer screen.
To complete the online application form you should have Adobe Reader installed. It is highly recommended that you use the latest version of Adobe Reader. Older versions of Adobe Reader may not be fully compatible with the form. You can download the latest version from www.adobe.com.
Please be aware the application forms available to download on the UK business link website cannot be printed off and submitted by post or by hand to the Licensing Team. You must upload the completed form and submit your full application electronically (including payment). Application forms are available to download on the relevant pages of our website should you wish to submit an application by post or by hand.
If you have any further questions regarding the online application process please contact the Licensing Team at the below address.
