Streetz

Summer Streetz 2011 took place across the borough during the recent school summer holidays.  A total of over 3,000 young people enjoyed the free evening activities that were arranged and a full evaluation is currently underway.

These areas which participated were:

  • Brighton Hill
  • Buckskin
  • Hatch Warren
  • Oakridge
  • Popley
  • South Ham
  • Tadley and Bramley
  • Whitchurch and Overton
  • Winklebury

The programmes remain available for free download below but activities included DJ, graffiti art, multi-sports and dance workshops, as well as the welcome return of the open access sessions (large screen Wii Games, Pool Game and Dance mats)

‘Summer Streetz’ is a brand, created by a partnership of agencies, led by Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council, to market a summer holiday activity programme aimed at 11-17 year olds in the Borough. 

2011 saw significant levels of sponsorship being received from Shire Pharmaceuticals, Sovereign Kingfisher Housing Association and the Community Safety Forum which joined that of the council as well as a whole host of community organisations that made in-kind contributions to ensure a sustainable initiative.
