The council has allocated £90,000 of secured developer contributions to fund improvements to the existing community ball games area located within the grounds of Four Lanes Community Junior School.
A brief was issued to play companies to prepare a scheme of possible improvements and provide estimated costs. This brief incorporates comments from the school, users of the ball games area, Chineham Parish Council (CPC) and the community centres' Joint Management Committee (JMC). Companies were asked to provide costings for two options - one with floodlighting and one without. Potential schemes were returned to the council in April 2011 for assessment and evaluation.
The evaluation exercise has helped to identify a preferred scheme which is supported by the JMC. A layout plan of the proposed improvements has been developed and you can view a copy of this by following the link below:

Planning consent has been secured for the implementation of improvement works to the ball court area.
Therefore, these works will commence on site during the week beginning 2 April 2012.
A second planning consent, seeking permission to provide floodlighting to the ball court area, is due to be considered by the County Council's Planning Committee on 21 March 2012.
