Tollhouse Meadow, Chineham - improvements to the skate & BMX park

The council has allocated £100,000 of secured developer contributions to fund improvements to Tollhouse Meadow skate and BMX park.

The location of the existing skate and BMX park provides a number of constraints; not least the Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) designation that covers much of Tollhouse Meadow. This designation restricts the type and scale of development that can occur on or near to the meadow.

A brief was issued to play companies to prepare a scheme of possible improvements and provide estimated costs. This brief incorporated comments from skate users and Chineham Parish Council. Potential schemes were returned to the council in April 2011 for assessment and evaluation.

The evaluation exercise has helped to identify a preferred scheme which is supported by the borough council and user groups. A layout plan of the proposed improvements has been developed and you can view a copy of this by following the link below:

Works to implement improvements to the skate/BMX park will commence on site on Monday 19 March 2012.
