In 2010 the council approved a range of improvements to enhance the community sports facilities at Down Grange.
The re-carpeting of the astro turf pitch was completed in early September 2011 and the extension to the athletics track and refurbishment of other track and field facilities was completed in November 2011 (for more details please click here: Athletics Track Scheme).
Work has already been undertaken by Basingstoke Hockey Club to refurbish the upper floor of the Maidenwell Pavilion. A further programme of work will be completed by March 2012 to improve the entrance lobby, toilet facilities and disabled access at the pavilion.
New signage has been erected to direct visitors to the most appropriate parking areas and changes to the parking enforcements in Coniston Road are due to be put in place.
Looking further ahead, the council is intending to provide additional parking spaces and Basingstoke Rugby Club is aiming to expand its facilities to provide additional changing rooms, educational space, and fitness facilities.
