The Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council aim is to provide a community development approach in providing services and support to local residents from Black and Minority Ethnic Communities.

Community Development Officer (Black & Minority Ethnic Groups)

As Black and Minority Ethnic Officer, my role involves the following:

• Making contact with individuals, groups and organisations, and communities from the ethnic minorities having an interest in the Borough of Basingstoke and Deane

• Understanding the challenges BME face, then work together to seek suitable solutions to overcome them, enabling their full and active participation in local affairs

• Supporting and advising established group and develop initiatives to meet the diverse needs of local communities

• Developing and sustaining the partnerships over time for the benefit of all in the Basingstoke and Deane area

• Support and advice Basingstoke Diversity Forum.
