Hazardous household waste
Hazardous household waste items are usually marked with an orange label as they pose a possible risk to human health or the environment if not used properly.
Examples of hazardous waste
All household waste recycling centres in Hampshire can take hazardous household waste, including electrical goods. There are separate areas on site where they are collected before being delivered to accredited re-processors. On arrival at a site, contact a member of site staff who will direct you to the appropriate container or area.
Examples of hazardous household waste include:
- white spirit
- oven cleaner
- stain removers
- pesticides
- drain cleaners
- weed killers
- household batteries
- fluorescent light tubes
- glues
- energy saving light bulbs
- wood preservatives
