Candidates and Nominations

Each candidate needed to collect signatures and elector numbers from a proposer, a seconder and 98 subscribers – all of whom must be registered to vote in the Hampshire area. A deposit of £5,000 was also required. For candidates' and agents' guidance, visit the dedicated pages on the Electoral Commission's website.

Who are the candidates?

The nomination period for the PCC candidates closed at 12 noon on Friday 19 October. The Statement of Persons Nominated is available for download below.

Candidates may produce an election address.  Please visit http://www.choosemypcc.org.uk/candidates/area/hampshire for information.

The supplementary vote system

These elections use the supplementary vote system; under this system voters are able to vote for a first and a second choice candidate.

If no candidate has 50 per cent of the first preference votes counted, the two candidates with the highest number of first preference votes go forward to a second round.

In the second round of counting, the second preference of the candidates not finishing first or second are counted and redistributed to the two candidates with the highest number of first preference votes.
