Past Mayor's

 

The Town of Basingstoke first had a Mayor in 1641

In 1974 Basingstoke became a District Council and had a Chairman of the whole district and Basingstoke had a Town Mayor

In 1978 Basingstoke and Deane became a borough and had a Mayor for the whole of the borough

** Political division in Corporation resulting in two Mayors being elected. It is thought that Skeat allowed Vine to become Mayor, as it was Vine who called the next election meeting. Skeat left Basingstoke soon after. +-
