Commentary

The data below is collected and published by Hampshire County Council.

The industrial land supply survey is undertaken in the Spring with a base-date of 1st April.  The survey includes all sites with planning permission, sites permitted subject to legal agreement and commitments in local plans and policy statements with a gross floorspace gain of more than 200 square metres.  It includes information on the supply of industrial, office and warehouse developments within the A2, B1, B2, and B8 categories of the Use Classes Order.

Similarly, the retail and leisure land supply surveys are undertaken in the Spring with a base-date of 1st April.  The survey includes all sites with a gross floorspace gain of more than 200 square metres - this threshold is used for retail and leisure development and hotel developments of greater than 10 bedrooms are included.  Figures are grouped according to the Use Classes Order:

  • A1 - sale of retail goods;
  • A3/A4/A5 - restaurants and cafes;
  • C1 - hotels and boarding houses;
  • D2 - leisure and assembly.

Where mixed A1/2/3/4/5 developments occur, and sites cannot be subdivided, floor spaces are shown as an aggregate figure under the A1 category.

Confidence Levels

There are no confidence issues associated with this data as it represents a record of all sites, subject to the parameters above.
