The South View Conservation Area was designated and an Article 4(2) Direction on the area was served in October 2006 by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, in recognition of its special architectural and historic interest. The policies for the Conservation Area were adopted as SPD (Supplementary Planning Document) at the time of designation.
Having designated the Conservation Area, the Local Planning Authority has a statutory duty to ensure that those elements which make up its special character or appearance should be preserved or enhanced, especially when considering planning applications.
