Brookvale Loddon Project: a new green route for walkers and cyclists in Basingstoke

Purpose

Hampshire County Council and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council are working on a joint project to provide a path for walkers and cyclists which stretches from West Ham leisure park, close to the source of the River Loddon, to the town centre facilities and the train station.

This consultation seeks views and comments about the project from residents and visitors to the area.

Description

The route will pass through a chain of open spaces giving improved opportunities for sport and recreation, as well as better access to nature conservation areas and the River Loddon.  Chalk rivers, such as this, are a national priority for conservation work.

In addition to Hampshire County Council and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, the project aims to involve the Environment Agency, special interest groups and the local community.

Local people are encouraged to help shape a new ‘green’ route for walkers and cyclists by commenting on the proposals.
