Duty Planning Service
Who is this for?
This duty planning service is to provide advice on small scale domestic and small scale business projects only or for when you need help to understand a current planning application.
A duty planning service is available between 8:30 am - 2:30 pm Monday to Friday in the reception area of Parklands building, Civic Offices, London Road, Basingstoke. You do not need an appointment to see a Planning Officer. However, the meetings will have a time restriction as other customers may be waiting for advice from the same Planning Officer.
The depth of advice given is dependent on the information you can give to the Officer as no prior research will be undertaken when considering the proposal put forward. Similarly there will be no opportunity to review the detailed planning history of a site while discussing proposals with the duty officer, although research into the planning history can be undertaken by yourself at the Civic Offices or online.
It would help if you could provide plans, sketches and photos so that the planning officer can understand your proposal.
Proposals which are more complicated or require a written response will need to be submitted under a written submission approach if applicable.
The planning officer will be able to give you an initial verbal view on the proposal and provide guidance on how to proceed. No written advice will be available through this process. If a written response is required then the “Written Submission” process will need to be followed.
Visitors seeking advice on more complex planning matters than those outlined above will need to follow the “Written Submission” process. If in doubt as to whether your enquiry falls within the Duty Service please contact the council on 01256 844 844 to avoid any unnecessary travel to the Civic Offices.
