New homes for your area - the big questions

Welcome to our 'New homes for your area - the big questions' webpages. These pages provide supporting information on the New Homes consultation and community engagement which began in autumn 2010 and ended on Friday 14th of January 2011.

The Government are currently undertaking a consultation on Environmental Reports that have been prepared regarding the impacts of the abolition of the Regional Spatial Strategies including the South East Plan. Once this is complete it is intended to abolish the South East Plan (which contains regional housing targets).  Once  the South East Plan is abolished, there will no longer be a regional housing target that the borough needs to meet. The council therefore wanted to hear what you think the right level of new homes for our area should be over the next 20 years through this consultation.

The consultation closed on the 14 January and headline results were reported to the meeting of the Planning and Infrastructure Overview and Scrutiny Committee at its meeting on 17 February 2011.
