Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)

The Borough Council has prepared a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) which sets out how the Council intends to involve the local community in planning issues, setting out who will be consulted, when involvement should take place and which methods will be used. Its purpose is to ensure active and continuous community participation in the planning process, whilst also making sure that the best decisions are made.

The SCI was formally adopted by the Borough Council on 19 July 2007 at the meeting of Full Council and a copy of this is available to download below.  Adoption of the SCI followed extensive consultation on a draft document and an examination by a Government appointed Planning Inspector.  A copy of the Inspector's Report is also available to download below, in addition to a summary leaflet on the SCI and a copy of the public notice and the Statement of Compliance.

Hard copies of the SCI are available and can be obtained by contacting a member of the Planning Policy Team on 01256 845796 or by emailing LDF@basingstoke.gov.uk.
