Local Development Framework (LDF)

What is the Local Development Framework (LDF)?

The Local Development Framework (LDF) is a set of planning documents which provide a framework to guide future planning and development in the borough and a summary of the approach taken to date is set out below. The Borough Council is currently considering its position in light of the recently published National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and the High Court judgement.

Status of Basingstoke and Deane's LDF

We are currently in the process of producing the Local Development Framework for Basingstoke and Deane.  A Pre-Submission Core Strategy, published in February 2012, was quashed by a judgement of the High Court in April 2012.  Further details can be found by clicking here.

It should be noted that for the purposes of the the determination of planning applications, the development plan consists of:

- the saved policies of the Adopted Local Plan 1996-2011; and
the South East Plan.

In addition, account needs to be taken of the NPPF.
