The borough council adopted the Local Plan (1996 - 2011) on 17 July 2006, and this now forms part of the development plan for the borough, along with the South East Plan. Since that time, the council has sought the consent of the Secretary of State to save a number of policies and consent has been agreed.
As a result of this, a number of policies will not be saved and will therefore expire for the purposes of determining planning applications as from 17 July 2009. Two schedules are available to download below, including:
- A schedule of all of the 'saved' policies, which are still applicable for development control purposes, along with the direction issued by the Secretary of State.
- A schedule of all those 'expired' policies which will no longer be relevant after 17 July 2009.
A full, unaltered version of the text of the Adopted Local Plan is available to download below. However, it should be noted that this contains the eight policies that have now been deleted.
Should you have any queries about which policies are saved, please contact a member of the LDF Team on 01256 845796 or email LDF@basingstoke.gov.uk
PPS3 - Changes to the Affordable Housing Thresholds
Following the publication of PPS3: Housing by the Government in December 2006, the threshold for seeking the inclusion of affordable housing on sites in Basingstoke Town has been reduced from 25 dwellings as set out in policy C2 of the Adopted Local Plan to 15 dwellings. A short guidance note has been prepared to explain this in more detail.
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)
In addition to the Adopted Local Plan Review, the borough council has a number of Supplementary Planning Documents that are currently being prepared.
Local Development Framework (LDF)
Furthermore, the borough council is currently working on the preparation of its Local Development Framework, and has produced a Local Development Scheme to detail the documents that it intends to produce.
Should you be considering making a planning application, it is worthwhile noting that the borough council recommends the undertaking of pre-application discussions. Advice on how you can go about this is available by clicking here.
Development near to AWE Aldermaston
Please note that should you be considering proposals for development within and up to 8km of AWE Aldermaston, further consultation may be required with the Health and Safety Executive. Please click here for further information.
Finally, account needs to be taken of the policies contained in the South East Plan, which forms part of the 'development plan'. The South East Plan can be viewed by clicking here.
Tadley Sewerage Issue (Bowmonts Road)
It should be noted that an issue has been raised with the sewerage system in the Bowmonts Road area of Tadley. Thames Water have undertaken a study to investigate the causes of this and the impacts that this has on development, and have produced a report of their findings.
