Housing Mix

To accord with Government guidance and the council’s housing mix policy, a variety of house types and densities are required. Generally these are in the range of about 25 to 50 dwellings per hectare. Approximately, 40% of all housing on the site will have no more than 2 bedrooms.

A significant proportion of the smaller units would be provided in 3 or 4 storey apartment blocks located in the neighbourhood centre on the Merton Rise site or 2 or 3 storey terraces in lower parts of the site. This reflects the need to redress the disproportionately high levels of 3 bedroom terraced houses in Popley and provides for a balanced form of development.
