Summer 2011

Merton Rise

In January 2009, HCC took the decision to withdraw the housing land at Merton Rise from the market. This decision, along with the expiry of the outline planning permission in June 2009, has given the County Council an opportunity to re-plan phases 2-5 of the Merton Rise development with a view to make certain of its delivery as soon as market conditions improve.

A new outline planning application for the remaining undeveloped land was submitted in September 2010 and Hampshire County Council has recently obtained a resolution to grant outline planning permission from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council (Ref: BDB/73174), subject to the completion of a Section 106 Agreement.

The development site is approximately 28.7 Hectares with the potential for up to 784 dwellings and a local centre of up to 1,500m2. Hampshire County Council have marketed the land for sale to developers and is currently under offer.

166 dwellings have already been constructed as part of Phase 1, along with the services, road infrastructure and Everest Community College.
