Discounted loft and cavity wall insulation is available to all local residents who own their homes or rent privately. If you receive income or disability related benefits, you may be able to get it done free.
If you are aged 70 or over, you can normally get free cavity wall insulation. This is irrespective of your income and savings and whether or not you receive benefits. Loft insulation is free where the existing insulation is no deeper than 2.5 inches (60mm). If your home is larger than average for the number of bedrooms, or access is difficult, you may be asked to make a contribution.
Energy Saving Advice
The Energy Saving Trust is the UK's leading organisation set up to address the damaging effects of climate change. Through its network of "one-stop-shop" advice centres it provides free and impartial advice on energy saving in and around the home. Advice covers grants and funding, energy efficiency, renewable energy, transport, waste and water.

Warm Front Grants
The Warm Front Grant is a Government funded initiative which can provide a grant of up to £3,500.00 to certain households with the greatest health risks – older people, families with young children and people with disabilities or long term illnesses. Utility Companies
Your energy supplier may be offering discounts of up to 60% towards the cost of installing cavity wall insulation and loft insulation. For up to date information on which supplier is offering the best deal, please ring the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre on 0800 512 012 or contact your own energy provider and ask to speak to their energy efficiency team. Their contact phone number will be on your latest bill.
The Environment Centre
The Environment Centre (tEC) is your local registered charity specifically set up to support local residents in Hampshire, Isle of Wight and West Sussex. Staff are able to provide free impartial advice to help reduce your energy use in the home and can offer advice about local/national grants and discounts available for insulation, renewable technologies and boilers.
Insulation Grants and Discounts
If you are over 70 or in receipt of certain government benefits and own or privately rent your property then you could be entitled to free loft and cavity wall insulation. Loft insulation should be free if you currently have less than 3” / 70mm of loft insulation. If you have a larger than average house there may be an excess to pay. All you need to do is call the Environment Centre (tEC) on freephone 0800 804 8601 for further details and for a local installer to contact you.
Even if no-one in your household is over 70 or in receipt of government benefits if you own or privately rent your home then you will still be entitled to discounted cavity wall insulation and loft insulation, so long as you have less than 3” / 70mm of loft insulation. The Environment Centre (tEC) can arrange for local insulation installers to contact you to arrange a free and no obligation survey.
