Our Housing Strategy aims to ensure that all residents of the borough can continue to live in an exciting and vibrant community, and can access good quality, well-maintained and affordable housing within a safe and prosperous environment. As a council we want to create sustainable communities where social exclusion or discrimination on the grounds of age, disability, religion, ethnic origin or sexual orientation, cannot exist.
We have developed a joint housing, homelessness and benefits strategy to provide information for all interested parties on our progress in implementing the strategy and any new developments.
The period 2011-13 involves significant change (which includes whole new statutory responsibilities), and much of the detail and potential impact of these changes will emerge during forthcoming months. The council considers it would be most effective to continue the priorities, themes and ways of working within the 2008-11 housing strategy to enable full consideration of the changing wider context. The council’s housing strategy, available to view from this link and the pdf document attached below, therefore continues to 2012/13.
