Extra care scheme at Newman Court

Newman Court in Basingstoke is a development of 64 apartments, which will enable people over 55 with care and support needs to live independently. Potential residents are assessed to establish their care needs and to determine their eligibility according to the scheme’s criteria. The scheme will have a professional care team, on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The ‘extra care’ scheme has been funded by the Department of Health and Hampshire County Council and is owned and managed by Saxon Weald, a not-for-profit company, which already runs similar schemes in Hampshire, East and West Sussex. Saxon Weald is working in partnership with Hampshire County Council and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

Thirty of the two-bedroom apartments will be available for purchase on a shared equity basis, where buyers purchase a 75% share of the property with no rent to pay on the 25% retained by Saxon Weald. The remaining apartments will be for rent.
