Eastrop Park Tree Trail

Eastrop Park Tree Trail was designed by the Basingstoke Tree Wardens
and Park Rangers.
Eastrop Park is reached by a short walk from Festival Place and the bus station or the Eastrop Lane bus stop. Alternatively, the purple bus from the town’s park and ride stops at City Wall House on Basing View, where a short walk across the footbridge leads to the park.

The War Memorial Park Tree Trail

The War Memorial Tree Trail was designed by Basingstoke tree wardens
and park rangers.
The park is reached by a short walk from Festival Place and the bus station. The War Memorial park contains many mature trees and some new planting. Most trees are native trees that provide good habitats for wildlife.

Chineham Nature Walk

Starting from the footpath beside the scout hut on Hanmore road opposite the turning for Mulberry Way, you will be able to join the Chineham nature walk.
Click on this link to download a copy of the map. As you walk through Guinea Copse, look out for some migrant birds such as the blackcap (pictured) and the chiff chaff.
The meadow section of this route is unsuitable for wheel chairs or pushchairs. To
avoid this section follow the alternative route indicated on the map.
Launch of the NEW Chineham Nature Trail
On Saturday 5th June, the Mayor will officially ‘open’ the new Chineham Nature Trail. You can take advantage of a unique opportunity to walk the trail with a local wildlife expert and learn more about the local conservation group and what they have been doing to manage the area for wildlife and enhance its natural beauty for people.
The event starts at 2 p.m. Starting point is the footbridge beside the scout hut, Hanmore Road, Chineham.
Binfields Nature Trail

Parts of the woodland are over 400 years old, making it a great place for walking and spotting wildlife.

The walk starts from Chineham Shopping Centre car park and follows a 2km route through the footpaths of Lychpit and Chineham and returning to Chineham Shopping
Centre.
The woodland is also home to a series of artworks inspired by the woodland and its flora and fauna.
Self-guided walk around the War Memorial Park
There are three routes that you can take, click on this link to download a map. The shortest takes you through the historic western side of the War Memorial Park. This can be extended to incorporate more of the park, or further still to take in the old common. The walk is level for most of the way on good paths. There is seating at various points along the way.
The shortest walk described covers a distance of 1/2 mile. By following the directions the walk can be
extended to a distance of 1 mile, or further still, to a distance of 1.5 miles.
Self-guided walk around Eastrop Park and the War Memorial Park
This walk takes you from this popular amenity park to the historic War Memorial Park and back, click on this link to download a map. The walk has one uphill slope and good pathways. There is seating at various points along the way.
The complete walk is 2.3 miles.
Self-guided walk around the War Memorial Park, Black Dam Ponds and Crabtree Plantation
The first part of the walk takes you from the War Memorial Park to Black Dam Ponds. You then have the choice of returning to the park or continuing the walk to Crabtree Plantation. The walk from the park to Black Dam Ponds is level for most of the route, with some gentle slopes. There are seats at various points along the way.

From Black Dam Ponds to The War Memorial Park there is one steep slope. It may be muddy in
places, particularly through the woodland.
The War Memorial Park to Black Dam Ponds and back 1.7 miles.
The War Memorial Park to Crabtree Plantation and back 3.5 miles.
Down Grange Nature Walk
The complete walk starts from Homesteads Road and covers Down Grange Meadow, The Old Hedgerow and The Old Orchards. The walk is 2.5km (1.6 miles) long.
Alternatively, park in Stratton Park and walk just the Old Orchards or the whole walk in reverse sequence.
Another option is to park by the Walled Garden.

Discover Old Down
Old Down is about 12 hectares of ex-farmland with a narrow strip of mature beech wood part owned by Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council. The mature woodland is classed as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC).
Old Down is located beside the A30 on the west side of Basingstoke about 1 mile from Junction 7 of the M3.
