Basingstoke Market

 

Description

Basingstoke Market was set up under the charters of 1622 and 1641. It can accommodate up to 18 stalls in an area of 325 square metres.  The Market is held in the Market Place every Wednesday and Saturday from 9.00am till 4.30pm. There is also a craft fayre every second Thursday in the month.

In addition, there are regular exhibitions and displays held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Location

The Market Place is situated in front of the Willis Museum at the top of town at the junction of London Street, Winchester Street, Wote Street and Church Street.

Parking

There is ample parking available for shoppers nearby in Castons Yard, Joices Yard, Feathers Yard and Central Car Park.

Stalls

Some of the current products being sold at the Basingstoke Market are as follows:

Fruit & Vegetables, Meat, Olives, Flowers, Sweets, Ladies Clothing, Telephone Accessories, Fresh Farm Eggs, Cheese and Chutneys, Home made Bread and Cakes, Pet Food and Accessories, Hot Food, South African Food and Souvenirs.

Pitch Fees

The pitch fees start at £13.52 for a 10ft pitch and increase according to the size of the pitch. Details of the current pitch fees for stalls can be found in the Market Regulations document.

The fee includes parking for the day, an electricity supply if required and waste collection. Traders are required to supply their own stalls and canopies.
