Basingstoke Lions Club Annual Cycle Ride

Whitchurch Tennis Club Open Day, Sunday 27th May 2-5pm

Whitchurch Tennis Clubare holding a family fun day to celebrate the opening of their new courts in Laverstoke and promote their club.  The day will include:

Sport Photography Project

Would you like to be part of a project
designed to raise the profile of sport at an amateur level?  Denise Fotheringham will be photographing local sportsmen, sportswomen and young people (with parental permission) from March to May 2012 at locations in and around Basingstoke.

Free Swimming Lessons for the Over 55's

We are currently funding a free 10-week course of swimming lessons for the over 55's which is being run at Basingstoke Sports Centre on Monday afternoons. Autism Activity Club

A new activity club has been set up at Everest Community Academy for children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism . The sessions take place every Saturday in the Sports Hall from 11.30am-1.30pm. The cost of each session is just £2 for two hours of fun, exercise and activity, and all parents and siblings are also welcome to come along and join in. Lunchtime Football League

The council and Hampshire FA are working together to run a small sided lunchtime football league at the Sports Centre.  Any company or workplace wishing to take part is encouraged to contact Neil Joliffe at Hampshire FA to register interest:

Adult disability sport and physical activity sessions

Working in partnership with the council and Day Services, The Active Life Centre and Basingstoke Gymnastics club are providing activities for adults with learning difficulties and physical disabilities. The sessions are running weekly from 10:30am to 12:30pm on Thursdays. 

Activities on offer include floor gymnastics, trampolining, soft play, table tennis and new age kurling.

If you are eligible, or know anyone that may be interested please call The Active Life Centre for details on 01256 352858.  The first session is free of charge, and then the attendance fee will be £3 per week.

Hip Hop and street dance classes for all abilities

Wednesday evenings, 4:00 to 6:00pm at Fairfields Arts Centre, Council Road, Basingstoke, RG21 3DH

Students will be taught the basics in rhythm, movement and technique for street dance. This will range from top rocking, locking, waving, gliding and B-boying, all styles used under the umbrella of hip hop and street. The course will start with basics to give the students a chance to improve and incorporate more styles and techniques as the sessions progress. Students will also learn how to put the styles they have learnt into a routine and will learn the structure of choreographing routines for themselves. £2 per session
