Football opportunities

Aiming High Racket Skills Event
A free Badminton, Table Tennis and Racket Skills festival recently took place in Basingstoke. This was for children and young people with disabilities and their friends and family. The event was held at Queen Mary's College and a range of fun activities were available throughout the day for all abilities and ages. Free refreshments and a chill out area was also provided and young people were given details about where they could continue to play these sports.

Parallel Games
The Active Healthy Communities team co-ordinates teams from most special schools in the borough to represent the borough at the parallel games in Aldershot. Dove House school were recently victorious in athletics, girls football and multi ball skills.
Pupils with disabilities from three mainstream schools have also been given the chance to compete in previous years. Bishop Challoner, Aldworth and Brighton Hill schools have all been particularly successful in the New Age Kurling competition.

Competitions
The borough council works with a number of agencies across the county to support disability sports. Each year students from local schools also take part in regional disability boccia, athletics, hockey, quick cricket, badminton, football and rugby tournaments. New Age Kurling is also becoming increasingly popular so watch out for opportunities to play!
Regular school leagues are established in a few sports, but the main ones are Cricket, Football and Rugby.
