
The Local Sports Council (LSC) is a voluntary sporting organisation with committee members representing the major sports in the area. The LSC works 'with and for the local sports community' alongside a variety of partners and primarily the borough council. Its two major events being the prestigious annual Sports Awards plus annual Festival of Sport with German twin town Euskirchen. A wide range of sporting issues are discussed at regular meetings.

Festivals of Sport
Basingstoke and Deane has strong sporting links with both its German and French partner towns. The Euskirchen Festival of Sport takes place every year and is organised by the LSC with the support of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
The 19th annual Festival of Sport with twin town Euskirchen took place from 1 to 4 July 2011. Approximately 160 German visitors took part. A mix of sporting and social events were held over the weekend. Basingstoke were crowned winners of the festival and hope to retain the trophy in Euskirchen next year.
The clubs which participated in the 2011 Festival of Sport were:
