Basingstoke Sports Council (BSC) is a voluntary sporting organisation with committee members representing the major sports in the area. They work with and for the local sports community alongside a variety of partners and primarily the borough council. Each year Basingstoke Sports Council organise the prestigious Sports Awards and Festival of Sport events. Anyone involved in sport locally is welcome to attend BSC’s regular meetings.
Festival of Sport
Basingstoke and Deane has strong sporting links with both German and French twin towns. The Euskirchen Festival of Sport takes place every year and is organised by BSC with the support of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. The 20th anniversary of the German Festival of Sport took place in July 2012. Approximately 130 sportsmen and women from Basingstoke and Deane took part. A mix of sporting and social events were held over the weekend with Euskirchen regaining the overall trophy. The 21st Anniversary of the annual event will be held in Basingstoke on 6th and 7th July 2013. The German team will again be hosted by local clubs and families.
