Grant Aid and Scholarships
This year the borough is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Sports Grant Aid Scheme. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has invested approximately £157,000 in the scheme to assist sportsmen and women in their efforts to achieve full National, International and Olympic honours. The borough council in partnership with Basingstoke Sports Council which administers the scheme, is particularly proud to be able to assist local athletes in this special way.
Applicants must live in the borough and be at least county representative standard or equivalent within their sport. Priority will be given to Under 25s. Grants are available to provide assistance with travelling and coaching expenses, qualifications, plus equipment and clothing requirements.
Grant Aid applicants are also considered for the local and county Sports Awards and for scholarships or support from local facilities including the Sports Centre, Aquadrome and Tadley Pool.
Applications should be fully supported by the coach, club, National Governing Body or teacher of the applicant and also include any other additional information that would support the grant application, for example press releases.
Applications are welcome annually between 1st September and 1st December.
