Sports Awards Nominations

Various awards are presented at the annual Sports Awards in order to recognise the achievements of the borough's individuals, teams and clubs.  Nominations for the awards below are welcomed between 1st September and 31st January each year.  Forms are available below.

Award Categories

Cricket Coach

Sports Coach of the Year
Each year the Local Sports Council provides the sporting community with the opportunity to nominate their coaches for the Coach of the Year awards. Awards recognise coaches' involvement and success throughout the year.  Two awards are given each year:

- Voluntary Coach of the Year
- Professional Coach of the Year



Club of the Year Award

Each year clubs are encouraged to submit details of their achievements over the last year to be considered for the Club of the Year award.  Clubs must be based in the borough.  The award recognises clubs who have demonstrated excellence in the management, development and competition. Guidance notes for compiling a Club of the Year application are provided at the foot of this page. 

The Club of the Year Award encourages clubs to think about club development in the future. The Sports Development Team and the Local Sports Council are committed to helping clubs develop. Team of the Year

Nominations from junior (U18) and senior teams based in the borough are welcome each year.   

This may include school or college teams, a league representative side or a club who have performed particularly well.

 




Service to Sport Award

Do you have people within your league, club or sports organisation who work exceptionally hard to ensure the club and sport is successful each year? The service to sport award recognises the achievements of those people involved in local sports clubs on a longstanding basis.

Officials Awards
Sports officials in Basingstoke and Deane contribute countless hours to ensure sports competitions run successfully. This is your chance to nominate Junior and Senior officials.

Sports Volunteer of the Year
Recognition is also given to the important volunteers in local sport again at both Junior and Senior level. This award is open to all those who volunteer time to local sport and for juniors can include those involved in JLSA or CLSA Schemes.

Disabled Sportsperson Award
More and more young people can now take part in a much wider range of sports, with many also competing in mainstream competitions.  Juniors, Seniors and Veterans can be nominated for this award.

Junior / Senior Sportsman or woman of the year
Those who apply for Sports Grant Aid are automatically considered for these categories, however you can also use the appropriate form below to nominate an individual for one of these awards.   

Veteran Awards
Recognise people over 40 years old who excel in their sport. These awards are open to both male and females
competing in sport at county level and above.

School of the year
Recognises schools which excel at providing good sports provision for their pupils.  Nominations can be made, referencing curriculum development, PE results, out of school hours provision, leadership and volunteering, health and fitness, club links, inclusion and success of sports teams.
