Dispensations to Park

Medical Practitioners, Social Workers and Carers

Carers, medical practitioners, social workers and others visiting clients living in restricted parking areas, can apply for a Medical/Carers conditional dispensation to park.  This will enable them to park in residents' parking bays while carrying out professional visits to clients in their own homes.  The dispensations are free of charge to qualifying applicants.  They are issued for a specific name and vehicle, and are valid for a maximum period of one year.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
The dispensation cannot be used when public parking facilities are available within a reasonable distance of the client’s home, and it does not exempt the holder from paying charges in the council's pay and display car parks.  The dispensation should only be used when undertaking professional visits to clients in their own homes, not for meetings, collecting prescriptions or to avoid paying applicable car park charges.

Builders and Tradesmen

Tradespeople undertaking work to properties situated in a restricted parking area, can apply for a dispensation to allow them to park nearby for a limited period.

The parking control team require three days' notice to carry out a safety assessment of the location and, if this successful, a dispensation may be issued upon receipt of an administration charge of £15 per vehicle.
