Public Car Parks

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is responsible for the management of sixteen public car parks which cater for almost 2,000 vehicles.

All of our car parks have qualified for the ParkMark safer parking award. This award is given by the police to car parks that have measures in place to prevent criminal activity and create a safer environment for both car park users and their vehicles. Visit www.parkmark.co.uk for further information on the scheme.

Oversized Vehicles
Our car parks are intended for private motor cars and vehicles not exceeding certain width limits and not able to carry more than seven passengers. A number of the car parks have height barriers and in others, the size and/or layout of the car park is not suitable for larger vehicles.

However, there are a few car parks that could accommodate larger vehicles such as motorhomes and large transit-type vans:

  • Castons Yard
  • Central
  • Churchill Way car parks

While these vehicles will not be able to park in a single marked bay, they may park across a couple of bays provided two or more pay and display tickets are purchased in respect of the number of spaces the vehicle is occupying.

Other car parks

Festival Place , North Hampshire Hospital and Basingstoke railway station parking facilities are not council-operated, but if you click on each of the links, you will find out more information about parking.

The council also owns several car parks in Whitchurch, Overton, Kingsclere and Bramley which are free of charge. Directions for these car parks can be found below:

ROMANSE (live parking availability information)

Basingstoke has joined the ROMANSE (ROad MANagement System for Europe) network. This means that up to the minute information on parking availability is provided for many of the town's public car parks. The system also provides 30 minute and 1 hour forecasts of the number of spaces expected to be available.
