Residents' parking permit scheme (see also 'Visitors' parking permit scheme')

houses

Residents' parking permit schemes have been implemented in many town centre areas to help residents find parking reasonably close to their home. Some parking places in these areas are reserved for permit holders' use at all times (including weekends and bank/public holidays). Others may also allow public parking for limited periods (such as between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday).

In the majority of areas, visitors’ parking permits are also available*. These allow visitors' vehicles to be parked in residents' parking places. There is an annual fee for both the resident and visitor permits. An administration fee is also payable for any replacement permits.

Possession of a permit does not guarantee a parking space will be available at all times. If space is not available, the vehicle must be parked elsewhere, in compliance with any parking or waiting restrictions that apply.

All residents' and visitors parking permits expire on either 31 March or 31 October annually.  Reminder letters will be sent approximately two weeks before expiry.

To apply for a new permit or to renew an existing permit, you simply need to call our contact centre on 01256 844844 between 8.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday and provide your current council tax reference as proof of residence.

*Please note that visitors permits are not available for Flaxfield Road, Hadleigh Place or Mortimer Lane, and residents permits are not available for Bounty Rise.
