Parking schemes have been implemented in many town centre areas to help residents and their visitors find a parking place for their vehicle reasonably close to their home. Some parking places within these areas are reserved for permit holders’ use at all times (including weekends and bank/public holidays). Others may also allow public parking for limited periods (such as between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday).
Visitors' parking permits allow visitors to park in a resident's parking place, and are available in the majority of areas*. There is an annual fee for both resident and visitor permits. An administration fee is also payable for any replacement permits.
Possession of a permit does not guarantee a parking space will be available at all times. If space is not available, the vehicle must be parked elsewhere, in compliance with any parking or waiting restrictions that apply.
Residents' and visitors' parking permits expire annually. Renewal letters will be sent to resident's approximately two weeks prior to expiry each year.
If you would like to apply for a visitor's or resident's permit, please call our contact centre on 01256 844844 between 8.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
