Taxishares and Carshares in Hampshire
A Taxishare or Carshare is similar to a bus service only a taxi/private hire picks passengers up instead of a bus. These services are often put in place when a bus service no longer operates in the area and can be known as either a Taxishare or Carshare. Find out which Taxishares and Carshares operate in the Basingstoke area
All taxishares/carshares are bookable which means that to use them you must first book your place in the car. In order to register for this service please ring the Hampshire County Council (HCC) Community Transport Team on 01962 846786.
Most services run to a set timetable just like a bus even if you are the only person who wants to travel, but will not run if nobody has booked.
Passengers either get picked up from their home address or their nearest bus stop depending on which Taxishare/Carshare you use and you will be dropped at a specific point.
To find out if you are eligible to use this service and for further information, please call the HCC Community Transport Team on 01962 846786.
Basingstoke Council also licenses Hackney Carriages (taxis) and private hire operators, which provide individual journeys. For further information, visit the Hackney Carriages Licensing pages
