Vehicular dropped kerbs (for driveway access)
Provision of vehicle accesses is a function of the County Council (as Highway Authority), with the cost of the vehicle access being meet by the property owner/occupant who requests the access. If you wish to apply for a vehicular access you can do so simply and quickly by emailing roads@hants.gov.uk. Assistance for disabled persons
Subject to budget availability, the Borough Council will fund the provision or modification of a vehicular dropped kerb for disabled persons who are in possession of a valid blue badge and are in receipt of income support or pensions credit. This would cover all alterations to the highway kerb, footway and verge but not the provision or modification of a hard standing area within the property. Where disabled persons hold a blue badge but are not in receipt of income support or pensions credit, the borough council will usually contribute up to 50% of the cost of providing a vehicular dropped kerb.
The contributions made by the council are separate from the Disabled Facilities Grant, which provides funding for the adaption of homes to meet the needs of the occupant with a disability and could include the provision of a hard standing and vehicular access.
