Maintenance of street lighting
Scottish and Southern Electricity Contracting (SSE Contracting) are the County Council’s contractor responsible for the maintenance of more than 145,000 street lights and illuminated signs throughout Hampshire. They also maintain some street lighting for the borough council that is not on the public highway.

Prior to reporting the fault, please check the defective streetlight for its reference number.
This is usually fixed to the column 5 to 6 feet above ground. Also find out the road name in which the streetlight is situated. (If the street light has a series of alpha/numeric characters beneath the number itself then please also use these when reporting the fault).

If you wish to report a fault by telephone, please contact Hampshire County Council's HantsDirect Service
on 0845 603 5633 ensuring that you have the reference number of the defective light and the road name to hand.
