Hampshire Safe2Eat
Want to know what your favourite restaurant is like behind the scenes?
"Safe2eat" is a scheme that is designed to inform you about the standards of food hygiene within food premises in Hampshire. You will be able to find details of the hygiene ratings of food premises within the Basingstoke and Deane area, as well as for other local authorities across Hampshire, on the "safe2eat" website.
The hygiene ratings that you will find on the site have been given following an inspection of a business from a local authority food inspector. The inspector will assess each food business using the Food Standards Agency 'Inspection Rating Scheme' which is defined in their Code of Practice on Food Law.
The outcome of this assessment will determine whether a food business is:
U Unsatisfactory: where there is major non-compliance with food safety legislation that will result in formal action being taken.
Satisfactory: where there is generally good compliance with food safety legislation but there maybe some minor matters of non-compliance.
Excellent: where there is full compliance with food safety legislation.
The business will then receive a certificate that will show their rating. This can be displayed in their premises.
