Fire Safety

Fire, and especially the smoke that accompanies it, is a recognised killer. In any event a business will be disrupted, stock damaged and profits lost.

There is a very real potential for fire in any workplace, and it is essential that any risk assessment undertaken covers this important aspect. This should include, suitable safety precautions, means of escape, provisions for summoning the Fire Brigade. Employees must have suitable training in these matters. Employers and persons who are in control of a premises have a duty to ensure that an assessment is made in respect of fire.

The new Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 introduced new requirements on the 1st October 2006 in respect of fire safety within work premises.
