Private Hire Vehicle Specification

All private hire vehicles subject to first application must be no more than 3 years old and must comply with the Council's specification for vehicles which can be downloaded below. You are strongly advised to check that any vehicle you intend to purchase meets all aspects of the vehicle specification. You are also advised to contact the Licensing Team for advice prior to purchasing any vehicle as vehicles that do not meet the specification will not be licensed.

The strict compliance test required for all vehicles includes a normal M.O.T. plus a minimum standard relating to the overall safety and condition of the vehicle inside and out.
