First decide where and when you wish to trade then contact the licensing team. We will be able to advise you whether the location you have chosen may or may not be suitable.
You will need to complete an application form which can be downloaded by using the link below or you can request a copy from a member of the licensing team. Return the completed form with a deposit of a £100 and evidence that you have public liability insurance to the value of £5 million. If you wish to sell food you must also provide evidence that your buisness is registered with your local Environmental Health Department. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
The full fee for 2007/08 is £880.Payment may be made in full or by direct debit over 10 months.
Applications will not be considered without this evidence.
Applications can take up to 3 months to be determined.

Local residents and businesses who may be affected by your application may also be consulted before any Street Trading Consent may be granted.
What happens next?
If a Consent is granted it will be for a period of 1 year, or a shorter trial period if appropriate.
All Street Trading Consents are subject to the Council's Standard Licence Conditions, click on the link below to download a copy of these, or use the email link at the bottom of the page to request a set.
The Conditions will control trading hours, litter control, health and safety standards and anything else that the Council determines to be relevant.
What if an application is refused?
Consent may not be granted when relevant adverse comments are received from the consulted parties.
Consent will not be granted where there is a risk to road safety or possibility of a nuisance being created.
If your application is refused you may discuss the application with Licensing Officers. The applicant may request in writing for the Head of Community Protection to review the decision and if still not satisfied by the decision you may appeal to the Council's Licensing Committee. Other than Judicial Review there is no statutory right of appeal against the Councils decision.
Revocations
The Council may Revoke a Street Trading Consent after it has been granted. This may be for a variety of reasons such as: non compliance with conditions, non payment or because other agencies such as highways department require access to the trading location. You will be given at least 10 days notice if your Consent is revoked.
The applicant may request in writing for the Head of Community Protection to review the decision and if still not satisfied by the decision you may appeal to the Council's Licensing Committee. Other than Judicial Review there is no statutory right of appeal against the Councils decision.
