Council Tax Charges 2008/2009

These charges were set at a meeting of the Committee of the Council on 26 February 2008.  They came into effect on 1 April 2008.

The amount of Council Tax payable depends on a number of factors including the valuation banding of a property (ranging from bands A to H), which area the property is situated in, and how many people reside there.

Basingstoke Council collects Council Tax payments on behalf of itself and the following other authorities:

  • Hampshire County Council (HCC)
  • Hampshire Police Authority (HPA)
  • Hampshire Fire and Rescue Authority (HFRA)
  • Local Parish Councils (where applicable)

For the year ending 31 March 2009, people living in a Band D property in the borough of Basingstoke will pay Council Tax of £99.17 towards the services provided by the Borough Council. This is the full charge assuming there are two adult residents occupying the property as their main home.

Including the amounts to be collected on behalf of HCC, HPA and HFRA the Council Tax bill for a Band D property is £1,291.94 for the year.

Those people who live in rural areas may also pay an additional amount to cover the services provided by their town or parish council.

Please select the area where you live from the drop down list below to show the full Council Tax charge (before any discount, relief etc) for each of the valuation bands in that area together with a breakdown of which authority the tax is being collected for.

The rural areas where town or parish councils have requested additional sums to cover the services they provide, are listed first. The charges for all other rural areas and town wards are shown at the bottom of the list, as one area only, as the charges for each of them will be the same.
