Corporate Communications


The Communications Marketing and Involvement team at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is responsible for answering all media enquiries, issuing news releases, organising events and photo calls, overseeing the council’s electronic communications including the website, managing marketing campaigns, overseeing council consultation and producing the council’s main publications including Basingstoke and Deane Today, the annual report and council tax leaflet.

The team is made up of:

Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager - Natalie Sweet natalie.sweet@basingstoke.gov.uk. Responsible for the overall management and direction of the team, delivering the Communications Strategy, overseeing the internal communications framework, forward planning, strategic corporate issues and cabinet issues and partnership communications work including Destination Basingstoke, the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) Communications Group and Hampshire Communications Group.

Community Involvement and Communications Manager – Sara Shepherd
sara.shepherd@basingstoke.gov.uk 01256 845493. Leads on consultation and community involvement for the council and co-ordination with its LSP partners, including responding to the national government community empowerment agenda and the new duty to inform, consult and involve local communities. Sara is the editor of the Basingstoke and Deane Today residents’ magazine and is responsible for local development framework communications.

Senior Media Relations and Communications Officer – Krissy Lloyd krissy.lloyd@basingstoke.gov.uk 01256 845603. Responsible for strategic media relations work, monitoring and evaluation and general media enquiries, court and enforcement publicity, elections communications and emergency planning. In addition Krissy leads on climate change and housing and benefits communications.

Marketing and Communications Officer – Samantha Naylor samantha.naylor@basingstoke.gov.uk 01256 845504. Responsible for general media enquiries, leads on business communications and communicating Community Protection priorities including community safety. Sam also leads on marketing activities, including the website and other new media, tourism and events and promotion of the Centre Shuttle and Leisure Park and corporate publications such as the annual report and council tax leaflet,.

External Information and Communications Officer – Sophia Waite-King
sophia.waite-king@basingstoke.gov.uk 01256 845746. Responsible for general media enquiries, communicating Environmental Care priorities, including recycling and waste management, and Community Development priorities. Leads on customer-focused information, including concessionary fares, and ‘direct to residents’ communications methods. Sophia is assistant editor of Basingstoke and Deane Today residents’ magazine and leads on communicating with councillors.

Internal Information and Communications Officer – Rachel Baker rachel.baker@basingstoke.gov.uk 01256 845507. Responsible for internal communications and development of the staff intranet and plasma screens.

Image and Reputation Officer – Angela Bond angela.bond@basingstoke.gov.uk 01256 845605. Responsible for project managing the Promoting Basingstoke project, a partnership project aimed at enhancing Basingstoke’s reputation locally, regionally and nationally.

Mayoral Co-ordinator – Debbie Collins debbie.collins@basingstoke.gov.uk 01256 845591. Provides full support, communications and event management, including administration and secretarial support, for the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
