Motion No. 2 - Linde Material Handling This Council is extremely concerned and saddened of the news that Linde Material Handling based in Basingstoke is, after 60 years, shutting down its assembly plant in the town and that hundreds of local residents will lose their jobs as a result. Council calls upon the Portfolio Holder [for Education, Performance and Partnerships] to urgently set up a taskforce of agencies and officers of the Council to help deliver tangible support to those affected by this closure. This taskforce is to co-ordinate all available support and assistance from whatever source including Government, towards providing employment for those losing their jobs. That this Council will take all action necessary to secure the future of the Linde Site for employment uses.
