Policy Briefing Process

The policy briefing process was developed to provide a consistent approach to handling the vast array of policy information, consultations and other policy documents regularly received by the council. It helps us to…

  • share information and learning
  • ensure wider consultation and engagement
  • ensure key opportunities are taken advantage of
  • achieve a greater level of policy awareness

Information we consider comes from various sources, for example government departments / agencies, community / voluntary sector, and other councils etc…

The types of information we receive include consultation, strategies (national, regional, local), surveys and questionnaires etc…

Policy briefing papers are produced and / or coordinated by the Strategy and Innovation Business Unit. We are posting some of the policy briefings on our website because they might be of use to others in researching, learning, or as summaries of what is happening in, or impacting on local government.
