Benefits Administration

This service is responsible for processing and assessing claims for housing and council tax benefit, as well as investigating fraud and carrying out enforcement activity. The Best Value Review received Cabinet approval in October 2001. It has not been inspected by the Audit Commission, although the Benefits Fraud Inspectorate has examined the service. As a result of the review, an improvement plan was produced. We have now changed our approach and any outstanding actions have been included in the 3-year service plan for the Business Unit.
