District Drainage

The Borough Council has a limited role in respect of District Drainage as much of the activity relating to drainage and flooding is the responsibility of other agencies. The Council is concerned with non-main rivers and watercourses, flood damage, drainage complaints, management of sewage treatment plants, planning application consultations, information and advice. The Review received Cabinet approval in October 2001. You can see the full outcome report by clicking on the link below.

The review was subject to an Audit Commission Inspection and the service was classified as 1-star – ‘fair, with promising prospects for improvement’. The full Inspection report is available via the document link below.

As a result of the review, an improvement plan was produced. We have now changed our approach and any outstanding actions have been included in the 3-year service plan for the Business Unit. The document below shows which actions have been completed, which are no longer relevant and which have been transferred to the service plan.
