Partnerships - A Partnership Framework

As a council we have a pivotal role in working in partnership with other service providers to make sure that collectively we understand the needs of our communities and can develop responsive services to meet those needs. We need to be certain we are dealing with the issues that concern and really matter to local people. Working with our partners enables us to achieve more for our communities than we could on our own and ensures that the outcomes we achieve together make a difference to people's lives.

Since 2005, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has been working to maximise the benefits from its partnership working through a common approach called the Partnership Framework. The first version was approved by Cabinet in June 2007. A revised version was agreed by Councillors in January 2009.

The Partnership Framework includes:

  • a governance protocol guide for officers and councillors who work in partnership to protect the interests of the council
  • a best practice guide for more effective partnership working
  • partnership database that holds all the information in one place including outcomes from partnership working

This approach will ensure that the Council's partnerships remain effective, offer value for money and meet the requirements of the Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA).
