Comprehensive Performance Assessment
Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) is the Government's way of assessing the performance of local Councils to make sure they can deliver better services to local people.
Every Council in England and Wales has had a CPA inspection, carried out by the Audit Commission. They have been awarded a score of 'Excellent', 'Good', 'Fair', 'Weak' or 'Poor'.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council's inspection took place in October 2003 and we have been given a score of 'EXCELLENT'.
Since then we have had an annual inspection, looking at how we plan, manage and control our financial resources. We are required to submit a self-assessment on Value for Money, answering questions set by the Audit Commission. This year we have been rated at level 3 meaning we are performing well, consistently above minimum requirements.
A copy of the latest self-assessment is available below, together with the final Audit Report and all other documents relating to our earlier CPA assessment.
