Performance Indicators

The Government sets performance indicators that all councils must report each year. They are designed to give a consistent view of performance across local government and allow a basis for national comparison. If you would like more information about the performance indicators set by the Government please click on the Related Link to National Indicator Guidance.

The tables in the documents attached below show our performance to the end of the 2009-10 financial year (31 March 2010), where the information is currently available.  On 1 April 2008 the 'Best Value Performance Indicators (BVPIs)' were replaced by a new set of National Indicators, though we retained some BVPIs as 'local' indicators.  Although a small number of National Indicators are the same as the old BVPIs, in most cases they are completely new or the definition has changed significantly.  Consequently, information previously included which compared our performance with other Districts has been removed as it is either outdated or irrelevant.  We will endeavor to include some comparison information later this year.

It is anticipated that the tables in the attachment will be updated to reflect our performance in the first quarter of this financial year after they have been scrutinised at the next meeting of the council's Performance Panel.
